"Curtis / Live!" by Curtis Mayfield
CLASSIC ALBUM OF THE WEEK
Curtis Mayfield "Curtis / Live!" 1971 (USA)
This is one of the great live albums of all time. Mayfield and a bare-bones backup band perform in a tiny club, and he has the audience (and will have you the listener) in the palm of his hands the whole time. His incredible songs are as emotionally moving as they are socially relevant -- he even manages to turn a Carpenters ballad into a protest song that will bring tears to your eyes!
