"Satori" by Flower Travellin' Band
CLASSIC ALBUM OF THE WEEK
Flower Travellin' Band "Satori" 1971 (Japan)
The second album credited to "The Flower Travellin' Band" (earlier they had also recorded as "Yuya Uchida & The Flowers"), this is FTB's finest moment and arguably the best hard-rock album to come out of Japan during the classic rock era.  Over-the-top vocalist Akira "Joe" Yamanaka and virtuoso guitarist Hideki Ishima were very much the "Page & Plant" of the western Pacific rim in their day. But their sound is not simply a recreation of Western heavy rock, there is most definitely a strong "Asian" influence in their music as well.
