"You're Living All Over Me" by Dinosaur jr (1987)
CLASSIC ALBUM OF THE WEEK
Dinosaur jr "You're Living All Over Me"  1987 (USA)
Dinosaur jr was one of the key band of the 80's American Indie Rock scene that paved the way for the corporate Grunge Rock jive of the early 90's -- in fact Dinosaur became one of those jive corporate bands in the 90's after self-appointed leader J Mascis fired the other two guys.  But don't hold that against them!  The three independent label albums Dinosaur recorded in the 80's are among the finest rock albums of their day, and were a real breath of fresh air against the backdrop of Madonna/Springsteen MTV pop.  Although played at an ear-bleeding volume, their songs are packed with melodic hooks, dynamic tension and release, and epic guitar solos such as hadn't been heard in a decade (and hardly heard since either.)  This, their second LP, is perhaps their best, though the follow up Bug from 1988 also has a lot of boosters.  The original trio of J, Lou & Murph reunited a couple years ago and in 2007 released their first album together since the 80's.  Official Website.
