"The Essential Sounds from the Far East" by DMBQ
CLASSIC ALBUM OF THE WEEK
DMBQ "The Essential Sounds From The Far East" 2005 (Japan)
My favorite album of 2005 and an instant classic, so sez Dave 3000! The initials stand for "Dynamite Masters Blues Quartet" and this Japanese band does sound like Blue Cheer / Led Zeppelin / Black Sabbath / Stooges - style "progressive heavy blues" plus DYNAMITE. Their playing is explosive and absolutely manic -- fans of the early Boredoms will also want to check this sucker out. If you can afford to pay import prices, there are several more DMBQ albums that have been released in Japan (this is their first US release.) Tragically, DMBQ was in a traffic accident in November '05 and their terrific drummer Mana "China" Nishiura was killed.
