"My Life in The Bush of Ghosts" by Eno & Byrne
CLASSIC ALBUM OF THE WEEK
Brian Eno & David Byrne "My Life In The Bush Of Ghosts" 1981 (UK/USA)
Eno and Byrne began collaborating together in 1978 on the Talking Heads' second album, and their fruitful partnership arguably culminated with the Heads' polyrhythmic Eno-produced masterpiece "Remain In Light" (1980) and this record. "My Life In The Bush Of Ghosts" was groundbreaking for it's time, using sampled voices and rhythm tracks built on tape loops, in a somewhat proto-hip-hop fashion. Nonesuch has just reissued this album on CD with 7 bonus tracks, but not including "Qu'ran" which appeared on the original LP, and has been cut from all subsequent versions.
