"Funhouse" by The Stooges
CLASSIC ALBUM OF THE WEEK
The Stooges "Funhouse" 1970 (USA)
The second album by The Stooges was a quantum leap over their first;  this time, they actually learned to play their instruments and wrote some songs!  Though often considered a forerunner of punk rock, this record is really more like an unholy combination of primordial heavy metal and free jazz.  These may be three-chord masterpieces, but the delivery goes far beyond simplistic punk bashing.  One of the great rock albums not just of 1970, but of all time!
