Sebadoh was part of the last wave of great American rock music, the "indie" scene from the 1980's which was commercialized into the "grunge" and "alternative rock" of the early 1990's.  Lou Barlow formed the band after getting sacked from Dinosaur jr, a great band that was legendary for the tumultuous relationships between its ever-feuding passive aggressive members.  Like Dinosaur, Sebadoh played a scruffy lo-fi kind of rock that was rooted in punk, but much more laid back and emotionally vulnerable.  This 1993 album (just reissued with bonus material) is my favorite of their albums, because Lou's songs on this record like"Homemade", "Cliche" and "Two Years Two Days" are some of the most heartbreakingly cathartic songs about failed romance ever written.
