"In The Court Of The Crimson King" by King Crimson (1969)
CLASSIC ALBUM OF THE WEEK
King Crimson  "In The Court Of The Crimson King"  1969 (UK)
The story of British Progressive Rock pretty much starts with The Beatles' Sgt. Pepper album, followed soon after by The Moody Blues orchestral concept album Days of Future Passed and The Who's first "rock opera" entitled "A Quick One (While He's Away)".  But it was King Crimson's debut LP of sprawling symphonic art rock that really set the stage for the prog boom of the early 70's and the success of groups like Yes, ELP, Genesis and Jethro Tull.
Couldn't find much vintage King Crimson online, but here's the mid-1970's lineup performing "Lark's Tongues In Aspic".  For something a little different, here's a 12 year old girl playing "Red" on the drums (and here she is again playing Neil Peart!)
