Three Man Army was a second-tier (at best) heavy rock band of the early 1970's. This was one of three little-heard power trios featuring the Gurvitz brothers: Adrian on lead guitar & songwriting, Paul on bass, and a third guy playing the drums.. Before Three Man Army, they made two albums as Gun (or "The Gun") and had a major British hit single called "Race With The Devil." After 3MA, they continued the militaristic theme and became The Baker-Gurvitz Army for a few more forgettable releases with legend Ginger Baker of "The Cream" on drums (Ginger's last project before quitting rock for good). So the semi-cleverly titled Three Man Army was actually the Gurvitzes least successful group, though they did release three hitless albums. Our classic album is their first, which is the best of the bunch. It will fit in well with Groundhogs, Leaf Hound, Clear Blue Sky and Armageddon in your collection of obscure British heavy seventies rock.
